So you found the perfect book, but it’s already taken!
Not to worry; you can get in line for all your favorites!
As a service to its customers, instead of materials belonging exclusively to one branch, WPLS’s collection is open to the entire System.
Any customer can request that a book be “put on hold” for them.
This can be in their local branch, from an entirely different library within the Western Plains family, or from the comfort of their own home
Begin accessing the WPLS Catalog. For help doing so,click here or go the the main WPLS homepage and click
Once you are to the catalog, type in the name of the book or the author that you are looking for into the search bar.
Once the title comes up, be sure to make certain that it is in the desired format (Book, eBook, Audiobook, eAudiobook). Click on Place Hold.
If you have not already logged into your account, you will be asked to do so now.
After logging in, you will be asked to select the branch at which you would like to pick up the book. Then click submit hold.
You will be able to tell that the hold was successfully placed immediately by the green banner that will appear towards the top of the screen:
Now look in the top right hand corner of the page and click on the red circle with the number. This red circle and number pops up any time some action has taken place on your account.
Next, you will see the following screen and then click on view holds.
Here you will see your requested hold. From this screen you can also see the status of your hold. In this case, it is “In Transit”.
You will be notified via email or a telephone call when your book can be picked up at the branch you specified in the location drop down menu.
If you have any issues or if you need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your local WPLS library branch.
