Executive Director- Tim Miller

Tim Miller has served as Executive Director of Western Plains Library System since 2013. Mr. Miller joined the Western Plains staff in 2004 as Acquisitions Coordinator and was promoted to Assistant Director in 2008.  Prior to his arrival at Western Plains, Mr. Miller worked for three years as a graduate assistant in the Fine Arts & Architecture Branch Libraries at the University of Oklahoma.  He also worked for two years as a student reference assistant at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Al Harris Library. 

Mr. Miller graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in history and received his master’s degree in library and information studies from the University of Oklahoma.  He was named the 2021 Distinguished Alumni for the OU School of Library and Information Studies. 

Tim Miller is a member of the Oklahoma Library Association (OLA); he previously served as the OLA President in 2023, OLA Secretary in 2009, elected as OLA Treasurer from 2011-2015, and served as the Association’s representative on the Mountain Plains Library Association Board from 2016-2019.  He is currently serving as OLA Treasurer and has been on the Finance Committee since 2008 and served as its Chair in 2024.

Mr. Miller is also an active member of the American Library Association (ALA), Public Library Association (PLA), and the Mountain Plains Library Association (MPLA). He is currently serving as a committee member for the MPLA Leadership Institute. Mr. Miller is a member of the ALA Policy Corps, Cohort 4, with policy interests in rural library funding and intellectual freedom, and he is a member of ALA’s Budget and Analysis Review Committee. Mr. Miller is currently serving as Fiscal Officer for the Public Library Association and is a current member of the PLA Board of Directors.

Tim Miller is a member of the Clinton Noon Lions Club and has served as its Treasurer since 2018.
