Charlotte Nance assumed the position of Branch Manager at the Weatherford Public Library in August of 2016. Nance joined the Western Plains Library System staff in 2013 as the Librarian for the Minnie R. Slief Library in Cheyenne fulfilling her goal of someday working in her childhood library.
 
Prior to coming to Western Plains, Nance was employed for 17 of her 24 years in education as a School Library Media Specialist. Many of those years, Nance was most commonly in small, rural schools with grades Pre-K through 12 in one building. The final 7 years of her career were spent in Edmond and Elk City, both at the secondary level only.
 
Nance graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. While both teaching English and running a school library full time, Nance received her Master’s Degree in School Library Media from Ft. Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Nance became a National Board Certified School Library Media Specialist in Early Childhood-Young Adult in 2008 while employed at Edmond Memorial High School.
 
Nance is a member of the Oklahoma Library Association and is currently a member of the New Member Recruitment and Retention Committee as well as a member of the Intellectual Freedom Committee. Nance is also a member of the Public Library Association and the American Library Association, serving on its Intellectual Freedom Committee and its Selection Manual Committee.
